What support and training will I receive?
Our training is tailored to you; the time you can give and the volunteer role you choose. We use blended learning meaning a wide range of techniques are used to help you learn. This includes face to face with our Training officer, either individually or in groups, and e-learning which can be done in our office or at home. There are also plenty of other learning tools available such as podcasts, videos and quizzes.
There will be plenty of opportunities throughout your training for you to observe current team members here at CAP; including our receptionist that meets and greets all of our clients, and advisers, that may offer advice both face to face and via email and telephone. This should help you to get a good grasp of the role you are undertaking and any challenges you may face, as well as the opportunity to discuss your learning needs further and ask any questions.
A quote from one of our volunteers Ikram who has undertaken a placement year here with CAP;
“Whilst on placement I believe my progression has exceeded my initial expectations. I did not think I would get to grips with my role as quickly and smoothly as I did, nor did I think that I would be helping other volunteers who are beginning their journey with CAP, during my placement. I have also attended every in-house training session which has been offered whilst on placement. This is showcasing my ability to grasp new challenges. Volunteering with CAP as part of my placement year has been a real eye opener as I have gained knowledge and skills in areas which I did not expect.”
